Innocence

Was inspired by Meg and Dia's- Monster

Small hands bash against the glass wall,
blank eyes stare and watch in amusement.
Tears stream down a young face, cries
of protest being unheard.

There's no escape. There's no escape

Fists and whips litter bruises across a small
frail body, scars forever to be seen. A broken soul
pleads out into the night.

Why won't somebody help me? Why won't somebody save me?

Red stains the white carpet, a destroyed soul
falls to the ground. Eyes clouded over in mirth
watch uncaring as they walk away.

No more innocence. No more innocence.

A child's dead eyes remain open as a light
finally dies out, never to return.
A spirit wanders forever more alone,
no one remembers the tattered hope.

There's no escape. There's no escape.
